Project Benefits

Affordable and Clean Energy. Energy is essential to nearly every major change and opportunity.
Sustainable Cities and Communities. There needs to be a future in which cities provide opportunities for all, for access to basic services, energy, transportation and more.
Life on Land. Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss.

How it works

  • Participating households pay a small part towards the solar cooker cost

  • Project developer secures funding through the sale of carbon offsets to fund the remaining costs of the solar cookers

  • Households are fit with the solar cookers, which harness energy from the sunshine in this very sunny region

  • Because the cookers are solar powered there is no need for the use of fossil fuels for everyday cooking tasks, reducing CO2 emissions.

  • The project promotes the use of clean energy, educates and trains the rural community and builds awareness on environmental protection.
